No Matter Wet or Dry
It all started with our founder, Isaac, who was dealing with sleep apnea.
Isaac progressed through life wading through fatigue. After too many years it was time to do something about it.
Now, at this point, he had not even been diagnosed with apnea, all he knew was that he was perpetually tired.
Anyone who had any good ideas for an energy-boost was consulted. Before he knew it, he was only eating whole grain, cutting down on simple carbs and minimizing the junk until he was beyond vegan.
Yes, there was a nice energy boost that came along with being vegan, but it wasn't enough. Life was progressing and optimal performance was becoming more important.
Work expectations grew and the time came to see a sleep doctor. Ignoring the words of a family doctor that shrugged it off as "not a medical problem" about 10 years earlier, he made an appointment with a sleep doctor.
The process took a full year and a half. He had to get into the doctor, get a sleep study in one hospital, switch hospitals, go through another sleep study, insurance verification, and a cpap hydration study. Finally, the cpap machine arrived and it was of help for the apnea.
Now, during this year and a half, Isaac simply had to function. He was not going to let himself be considered a disability case. What had he done wrong to be so tired? Determined to be able to keep up with life as a normal person, he had to find some way to make it happen.
Almost desperate, thoughts flew through his head. Pushups, weights, extra sleep and other ways of strengthening himself started to fill up his scarce extra minutes. Life was getting more successful, but at the same time it was getting increasingly less manageable. Something needed to happen without taking significant time out of the schedule.
Then came the brain storm. He would bike through the storm.
Work was 15 minutes away. Cycling it in 23 minutes would be achievable and enjoyable.
This was an easy plan and biking days started to be better days.
However, rainy days were a weak point.
The exercise schedule was thrown off balance and so was Isaac's performance.
Reliability was had to be established. The idea of a titanium bike was brought up. Was it worth $5,000 to feel better? Well, of course, if you have the money sitting around.
The basement became a workshop and the frame became a bike.
A bike that cycled through hundreds of miles of the worst of it.
